Promotional Products to Market National Storytelling Week

Once upon a time….

Storytelling was used as the main form of communication, predating writing by centuries. Story telling was oral combined with gestures and expressions. In addition to being part of religious rituals, some archaeologists believe rock art may have served as a form of storytelling for many ancient cultures. The Australian aboriginal people painted symbols from stories on cave walls as a means of helping the storyteller remember the story.

2019 marks the 19th year of its Annual National Storytelling Week. Over the past 24 years The Society For Storytelling has achieved much in its mission for the promotion of the oral tradition of storytelling, the very first way of communicating life experiences and the creative imagination.

National Storytelling Week takes place in storytelling clubs, theatres, museums, schools, hospitals, spoken word venues, and care homes. Wherever the events take place, the web of stories will be spun with sufficient magic between the breathe of the teller and the ear of the listener.

“Storytelling can be found enriching lives everywhere. The sharing between teller and listener empowers, feeding the imagination from one generation to the next.”

National Storytelling Week is celebrated by all ages enjoying- Folk tales, fairy lore, figments, phantoms, dragons, serpents, storms at sea. A good teller will conjure intriguingly. Oral storytelling is one of the most ancient art forms, continuing to this day as a vibrant part of culture throughout the world and so many of these old tales have their roots in the wonders of the outside world – possibly the most mystical place of all! Step outside the ordinary and explore the magic in the hidden world around us.

Celebrate National Storytelling Week

You can celebrate this beloved national day by encouraging your children to recite you their favourite tale, or similarly your friends or colleagues. If you’re a teacher, encourage your class to read aloud, and prompt parents to read to their children and generally enjoy the power of stories. Listening to stories has also been linked to  optimal patterns of brain development.

To celebrate National Storytelling Week, EverythingBranded takes a closer look at promotional products that could be used to market the event.
