Charles Alexander Distribution’s Head of Resources completes First Aid Course
Charles Alexander Distribution is delighted to welcome back their newly-qualified Head of Human Resources after completing a three-day British Red Cross First Aid at Work course.
Scarlett Baker took the course which is aimed at employees working in a high hazard environment, such as construction, manufacturing and agriculture. The course is also aimed at organisations who may have employees with disabilities or medical conditions.
The course covers content specified in the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and consisted of learning emergency first aid techniques such as AEDs, the use of EpiPens and CPR. The course also covered heart attacks and the use of a defibrillator.
Newly first aid trained Scarlett said: “I really enjoyed the course, we would meet up in the morning for a tea or coffee and get to know our peers on the course. We would then be split into teams and the day consisted of practical assessments and written work within those teams.
“We focused on the use of Epi-Pens and allergic reactions which is especially helpful for our company as a member of staff carries an Epi-Pen in case of an allergic reaction. I also covered heart attacks, CPR and the use of a defibrillator which is especially useful for members of staff with a heart condition or our older members of staff.”
Paul Rowlett, Managing Director at EverythingBranded.co.uk, said: “As we’ve grown as a company it’s become really important to have at least one member of staff who is qualified to carry out basic first aid.
“Scarlett was eager to learn and it’s great to have someone in the building with that knowledge.”
