Celebrating International Hobbit Day
International Hobbit Day
International Hobbit Day annually falls on September 22nd and this day is dedicated to two fictional characters: Frodo Baggins and Bilbo Baggins, two hobbits from the fantasy books “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings” written by J.R.R Tolkien.
How to Celebrate Hobbit Day
There are various ways you can celebrate International Hobbit Day, one of those ways is to throw your own long expected party just like the first Chapter in “The Fellowship of the Ring”.
You can host your very own Lord of the Rings party under the tree and decorate as if you’re holding a birthday party for Frodo and Bilbo Baggins. You can start by serving food the Hobbits would eat, this would include foods such as potatoes, mushrooms, pork pies, mince pies, cheese, apples, turnips, apples, onions, honey cakes, scones and cabbages. Hobbits traditionally drink wine, beer, tea and coffee.
Another way of celebrating International Hobbit Day is by gathering Lord of the Rings fans and hosting your reading circle, this is where fans of the books take turns reading passages and texts from the book.
One of the most popular ways that International Hobbit Day is celebrated is by hosting a movie watch party. A movie marathon of watching the three movies, “The Fellowship of the Ring”, “The Two Towers” and “The Return of the King”. You can also watch the three Hobbit movies, “An Unexpected Journey”, “The Desolation of Smaug” and “The Battle of the Five Armies”.
After all, it is Frodo and Bilbo Baggins’ birthday, therefore baking a Hobbit cake is also an excellent idea. You can get creative and try making a Lord of the Rings theme cake. Some cake ideas: Eye of Sauron cake or Hobbit houses.
