How Blue Planet Inspired Blue Friday

We all have to play a part in protecting our blue planet, and EverythingBranded is doing its part by launching it’s Blue Friday event.

Influenced by the critically acclaimed series which sees Sir David Attenborough delve deep into the marine environment, the Blue Planet documentary highlights the devastating effect that humans’ over consumption of plastics and single use products is causing to marine life.

EverythingBranded has responded to Sir David Attenborough’s conservation call by offering an alternative to Black Friday, designed to play its part in reducing the consumption and disposal of plastic waste. Our Blue Friday event offers a range of Eco-friendly promotional products at a 15% discount by using a discount code. This discount code can be reused and recycled from 23rd November until 21st December.

Sir David Attenborough states “We have a responsibility to the planet, every one of us. We may think we live a long way from the oceans, but we don’t. What we actually do here, and in the middle of Asia and wherever, has a direct effect on the oceans – and what the oceans do then reflects back on us.”

Sir David Attenborough is rightfully taking the topic of plastic waste to the top of political agendas as he calls for large corporations to be held responsible for their harmful produce, with the hope of legally (and morally) implementing restrictions to avoid irreversible damage to our planet. Durability and longevity are two qualities that manufacturers favour with plastic, but it is disastrous when we are done with it. Plastic is not biodegradable, meaning that every piece of plastic that has ever been made still exists on the planet. Plastic doesn’t biodegrade, it breaks down into smaller pieces which is then consumed by animals.

Businesses mass produce plastic daily, so it’s paramount this issue is taken seriously– whether it’s supermarkets having a plastic free aisle or companies finding alternatives to plastic packaging we can all make we can all start implementing these changes today

“We’ve seen albatrosses come back with their belly full of food for their young and nothing in it” continues Sir David Attenborough. “The albatross parent has been away for three weeks gathering stuff for her young and what comes out? What does she give her chick? You think it’s going to be squid, but it’s plastic. The chick is going to starve and die.”

The actions of just one of us may seem trivial and to have no effect. But the knowledge that there are hundreds of thousands of people who are doing the same thing – that really does have an effect. Small lifestyle changes, like recycling more or drinking from reusable water bottles may seem insignificant, but together our collective action is powerful!

EverythingBranded is determined to continue its expansion without losing sight of its environmental responsibilities. Check out our Blue Friday campaign details for your discount code today!
