EverythingBranded.co.uk donates to Dravet Syndrome Foundation
EverythingBranded.co.uk is delighted to announce it has donated promotional merchandise to Dravet Syndrome UK. Dravet Syndrome UK are a fantastic cause we have worked with on a number of occasions.
Their mission is to aggressively raise research funds for Dravet syndrome and related epilepsies, increase awareness of these conditions and to provide support for affected individuals and families.
DSUK’s website describes Dravet syndrome as a rare, catastrophic, lifelong form of epilepsy that begins in the first year of life with frequent and/or prolonged seizures.
The issue affects one in nearly 19,000 individuals. Common issues associated with the syndrome include, but not limited to, seizures, behavioural and developmental delays, sleeping difficulties and disruptions of the autonomic nervous system. The autonomic nervous system regulates functions such as sweating and body temperature.
Current treatments for the syndrome are limited and constant care required to look after someone suffering from Dravet syndrome can impact on the family and friend’s quality of life. Patients with the syndrome face a 15-20% mortality rate due to Sudden Unexplained Death in Epilepsy. (SUDEP)
The important raising of funds for research and the work Dravet Syndrome UK carry out can offer patients and their families hope for a better quality of life.
