We have previously had a quick flick through the history of promotional products and we ended on the fact that branded products are as popular now as they ever have been.
They may be popular but the big question is – are they effective?
The British Promotional Merchandise Association (BPMA) have conducted research over the last few years to show how promotional merchandise is used and how consumers interact with the products they are given during marketing campaigns
- Promotional products came second, behind television, in ability to remember the brand.
- 83% of people said they could remember the name of the brand without having to refer to the product
- 73% would consider purchasing from the company that gave them the promotional gift.
- 96% believe that branded merchandise increases company awareness.
Just from these stats we can see how effective promotional merchandise really is.
In a 2014 survey, over 1,200 people managers, directors and above were asked if they have purchased anything from one of the companies who have supplied them with promotional products. 83% said yes.
This shows that promotional pens, mugs and more are worthwhile, not just for generating sales to the general public but also as an extremely successful way of getting your brand known by the people who make the big decisions.

Promotional products have a greater life span. A sponsored tweet or a paid advert on Facebook have a limited shelf-life. Promotional products hang around, they’re used daily and they’re used for a long time.
